Lily had never been so nervous getting ready for a dinner before in her life. She had never met the Jennings family and she wanted to make sure that she was going to be making the right impression on them. If she did her math correctly, she was going to be scrutinized by somewhere around twenty people at dinner tonight, and that was assuming that his cousins were going to judge her as well. She wasn't sure on that last bit, but one could never be too sure. Either way she was going to make sure that nobody could make a single bad comment when it came to her clothes because first impressions were everything and she would at least have that to cling to. She had settled on a red dress with some minimal jewlery and black heels. It was festive yet still dressy enough for the occasion of Christmas dinner.
She heard the knock on her door, and the butterflies in Lily's stomach had started up again. As much as it confused her to admit it, she thought that she just might be falling for her best friend. "Just a second." she called as she put the back of her earring on. She grabbed her purse and went to the door to answer it. "Merry Christmas," Lily said leaning up to kiss him on the cheek. Lily, of course, had mistletoe in her doorway because it was the festive thing to do. "Come in I have to find my jacket I don't know where I put it," Lily said closing the door behind her.

--- i'll be there when you close your eyes ,. ( HOLD YOU TIGHT, SAY GOODNIGHT ) To sum up how Kaleb Jennings was feeling lately, strange would be the correct word for it. He had been a bit on edge ever since the gossip column came out about a triangle between him, Lily, and Sebastian, he was unsure of many things. It's like the stupid article had shaken up his world like it was a snow globe, and he couldn't get things to go back into a rational perspective...not that he was very rational to begin with. Kaleb tried to shake the thoughts from his head as he neared Lily's place in his sister's minivan. It wasn't an ideal ride to pick her up in, but he didn't have a car and it was better than walking, which is what he normally did. It was absolutely pointless for Kaleb to have a vehicle of his own because it wasn't as though he ever stayed in one place long enough to drive it properly. Lily was the person Kaleb was generally the most comfortable with, but as he pulled into the driveway, his nerves began to spike even more. It was just odd altogether because he wasn't the nervous type, in fact he was quite the opposite. Going to see Lily wasn't as easy as it once was, it was a bit scary, because he didn't know what was going on with his feelings, or what was going on with hers, if anything.
There was so much that he didn't know and while that was generally a good thing, this time it was bothering him. As much as he tried to drop the subject from his mind, it kept bothering him, even as he walked toward her door and knocked. Kaleb waited patiently, as he continued to try and get his thoughts in order. They were effectively gone when she opened the door. "Merry Christmas," he said in response, glancing at her outfit, the thing that had gotten rid of his other thoughts. "That's not all you have to find, you're not wearing that, pick something else," Kaleb told her. It seemed a bit harsh though he thought when it came out. "I mean, you look nice but that's much too classy for my family get togethers," he said. It wasn't as though his family were slobs or anything and they weren't all carefree like he was, but they did believe in comfort and dressing up on the holidays never happened. Sometimes his parents wore festive sweaters, but that was about it.

"Pick something else?" Lily asked. "What do you mean pick something else?" Lily had thought that she looked nice and festive without wearing one of those atrocious crotchet Christmas sweaters. Though she understood when he explained that she was going to be way overdressed and she didn't want to be overdressed. She wanted everything to be perfect because she wanted to make sure that she was completely in order when it came time to meet his family. "OK fine give me a minute," Lily said defeated by his perfect logic. It was his family after all. He would know best. "And no shaking, peeking, or messing with your Christmas present that's under the tree while I'm gone got it?" Lily asked him. She gave him a look that said that she trusted him regardless but that she would know that he would have opened the present. There was no doubt in her mind that Kaleb would have enough time to unwrap the present carefully, open it, and then wrap it up again and he would still be waiting for Lily for sometime after.
Back in her room, Lily opened up the closet doors and she stood in complete and total confusion. What was going to be too classy? Kaleb saw what she wore on a regular basis. She doubted she had a casual comfort look in this closet at all. For all the occasions that she had been primped and primed for before never once had she ever done something like Kaleb was asking her to do. Rummaging all the way in the back of her closet, Lily found one of the few pairs of jeans that she actually owned and slipped them on over toned legs. Still wanting to be festive, Lily kept going through her clothes as she looked for a top that was red. She found a warm cashmere red long sleeved shirt and slipped that on as well. Now all she needed were shoes and some accessories and she would be done. Lily grabbed one of her shrugs and slipped that on before belting it with a leather zip front cincher and then putting a sophisticated zebra print belt on over the middle of that. Lily put in her chandalier earrings, and a multi-tiered necklace. Her hair was still kept up with the one single clip. She grabbed her scarf which she was going to need anyway and slipped inot her black boots before going out to find Kaleb. "I still can't find my coat," Lily said as she walked passed him and to the hallway closet. "Ooh there it is!" She said taking it out. She turned around and she could see that he was still giving her a look. "What is it now! She asked him wondering what on Earth she did wrong this time.
