Chrisleigh walked down the barn aisle with the reins to her horse's bridle in her hands, the horse trailing behind her. She had just finished a quick workout to get ready for a competition on Saturday. She was nervous and excited at the same time. She reached his stall at the end of the barn and opened the door. She led him and and quickly untacked him, throwing the saddle over the door and the bridle on the hook hanging outside the door. She grabbed the purple halter and put it on. She quickly brushed him over before leading him back outside so she could cool him off. "Come on, Pip," she said to him when he hesitated before leaving the stall. He knew it was almost time for dinner.
She walked him around the parking lot for a while, before she decided to get on him. She tied to end of the lead rope to the other side of his halter to make reins before she led him to her car, stood on the bumper, and hopped on. His back was sweaty, but she didn't mind. She laid down on his neck and trusted him not to run off. They began walking around the parking lot and and began talking to him, as she usually did. He was the perfect listener. "Mom doesn't know if Amy is going to come home over her break. I don't know why she hates this place so much." She thought about her older sister. She was more worried about how she looked than hanging out with family. She moved to New York City when she graduated high school and rarely came to visit. "I hate her sometimes," she whispered sadly.
Pippin continued walking around and Chris figured she could trust him this once, so she closed her eyes and let him lead the way. She loved him. He was a black mustang. Her parents had had him brought here from Wyoming and gave him to her for her sixteenth birthday. He was now seven years old and as hyper as ever. The perfect barrel horse. He was a brat, in her opinion. Constantly bucking to let out his energy, biting anyone he didn't like, and trying to run away. Not to mention stubborn. He was never up to an early morning work out. But Chris loved him. He was her pride and joy and she would never trade him in for another horse.

i gotta make a home out of somewhere..
..and you're all over this city
Jude had taken a leisurely day, it was a warm Sunday and nothing really needed to be done. A long trail ride had suited her just fine and she lounged in the saddle, the familiar, soft creak of the leather keeping time with Mias' smooth steps. Popping through from under a particularly low-hanging set of branches Jude felt the warm sun hit her fair skin and a smile came to her face as she finished tossing the branches behind her. Sun was her favorite drug. She laid the reins, criss-crossed, on Mias neck because as ornery as she was sometimes, she knew that she wouldn't take off out of nowhere. Jude didn't even realize that she was back at the barn already, she didn't have a clue where she was most of the day out riding. She saw another girl that she hadn't seen before riding bareback and smirked. She clucked Mia on up to a trot and kicked her heels a little.
She got a little bit closer to the parking lot where the sweaty horse and girl were and spoke up, hoping not to scare them. "It's supper time, he's going to start chewing on you if your not careful!" Jude joked at her and then laughed, because Mia already had her head down, stepping all over the tossed-off reins, munching on the grass below her. She took that moment to redo her ponytail which had fallen out when a branch caught the hair band, looking at the girl over the top of her aviators. Jude liked to look nice, but she felt like at the barn that was where the playing field was level, no one should be wearing their best out there and if they were, they had no idea what they were doing. A t-shirt, jeans, and boots were all that were required. She had seen a girl earlier out attempting to ride in jeans so tight she had to be sewn in and a tanktop with sparkles and chains and lord knows what else. It was all Jude could do not to go over and spook the shit out of her horse just to see her panic. She chuckled again to herself upon remembering this and looked back to the girl, finishing putting her hair back up because today it was just too damn warm to have it down.

Chrisleigh was starting to really feel the heat from the sun, and took off the denim jacket she was wearing, throwing it towards her car. It had not been a good idea to wear that jacket on a nice day like it was. But thankfully she would be able to head home and relax for the rest of the day, and all of the next day as she had no classes. It would be a nice breather that she desperately required. Sometimes life got a little too crazy for her liking. She leaned back down on Pippin’s neck, but sat up when she heard someone approaching on a horse. It was a girl she didn’t recognize, but the horse was one that she had passed many times in the barn. Mia, she remembered her name to be. She pulled back on the lead line in order to bring Pippin to a halt. She laughed at the girl’s comment. “Oh, he knows not to mess with me,” she said jokingly. Pippin was a brat at times, but he always behaved when she was on his back. It was when she was trying to lead him anywhere that he misbehaved. He stood patiently for a moment before following the other horse’s example and lowering his head to the grass. “Or maybe not,” she said laughing. She patted his neck affectionately. He really was cute, even when he was disobeying her.
She looked back up at the girl. “I’m Chrisleigh, by the way,” she said to introduce herself. The girl looked a little older than herself, and like she was used to being around the barn, wearing jeans and a t-shirt. She wondered why she hadn’t seen her around before, almost every second of her free time was spent at the barn, but she didn’t think about it too much. “You’re horse is really beautiful. I’ve seen her around before. Is she yours?” she asked, deciding that horses were the best things to talk about to a stranger. Plus, she was curious about that particular horse. It was one that she didn’t know all the history of, or had even ridden before. “This is Pippin. He’s a brat,” she said, telling the honest truth about her lovely Mustang. She patted him on the neck to make the insult less hurtful to him. She would swear on her life that he understood when she was talking about him. He was too smart for his own good, always escaping from his stall or turning on and off the light switch that was right outside of his stall.
