[/blockquote][/blockquote]Three and a half years.
That’s how long Jeremy has been over sea’s fighting this war. He went through his boot camp and six months later was shipped out. Since then he had been in the desert, hunting down the enemies of 9/11. It had been tough on him and there were more than a few friends who had died, but somehow, Jeremy had gotten out of there alive. Writing his sister helped and the letters he sent twice a year to his parents out of courtesy. Yes, him and his sister had their issues like normal siblings but otherwise they were close. It’s what made his upcoming decision so much harder to deal with.
Jeremy had to decide if you wanted to continue in the military or just leaves seeing as the mandatory four years was done. It was hard for him because he found he really did love the military; but it kept him away from his family and a life. Maybe he could work as a recruiter in Georgia? It took a lot to get there but Jeremy had risen to Corporal in his time in Iraq. That fact made his internal struggle harder as he stared out of the landing plane. It was good to be home either way, no matter how the decision he made.
Welcome home soldier.
It took roughly ten minutes before everyone could exit the plane. Jeremy waited for the ones in front of him to pass before he made his way out of the seat into the aisle. A polite nod was sent to the flight attendants as he stepped onto Georgia ground. Or, well, Georgia flooring. Jeremy was home.
His boots thudded against the makeshift connection from the planes to the airport. His heart pounded with nerves at the thought that he was actually home and out of the fire-he had no responsibilities until he made his final decision; nothing. The first place he entered within the airport was for passengers only. He had to get to the “lobby” near the luggage area where he was meeting his sister, Kaitlyn. His dog tags swung with each of his steps, his boots heavy and his smile large. Jeremy would actually get to hug his sister and tell her he loved her in person, not through a piece of paper. He reached up to push his hat up on his head as he finally got to the clearing, peering over the crowd with ease for Kaitlyn. As soon as he spotted her, he didn’t waster anytime at all wrapping her into a large bear hug that lifted her off the gound.
”Oh mei-mei I’m so glad to be home!” He hadn’t seen his little sister since Christmas when he was allowed a few moments on a video chat with her. Even that seemed like ages ago; Kaitlyn seemed to have grown and matured even more since the last time they had seen as each other. As he set her down, he pressed a kiss to the top of her head. ”I missed you.” A soldier returning home was always an emotional experience, especially in this small town.
