This is 10% luck 20% skill 15% concentrated power of will
5% pleasure 50% pain And 100% reason to remember the name
Tyler woke up and, looking at his watch, noticed that it was six o'clock in the morning. He groaned and slowly sat up in bed, running his hand through his hair. He reached over and grabbed a shirt from his growing clothes pile. He knew he should put the clothes away in his dresser, but he was never in the mood to clean his room, and he didn't really mind that it was so messy. Throwing on the shirt, he pulled his dog tags from under it, and headed to his dresser to find some gym shorts. Once he had those on, he left his room, pausing only to grab a pair of socks thrown off to the side of his bed. In the kitchen he grabbed a Pop Tart, eating it on his way to the front door. He grabbed his shoes and car keys before leaving the apartment.
Once in his car, Tyler quickly put his shoes on, then started driving towards the beach. He had only been in Elizabeth's Hollow for a week, and he had made sure he knew where the best running spots were. He loved running on the beach especially, because it was more of a challenge and the scenery was more relaxing. Upon reaching the beach, he randomly parked his car and got out, not bothering to take the keys or lock the door. He figured that this small town was safe enough to trust that his car wouldn’t be taken. He tightened his sneakers and began heading down the beach at a slow jog. After about a mile of this, he quickened his pace, forcing his legs to keep moving faster until he was close to a sprint.
Running was his passion. It kept him in shape for the sports he loved, and it was a good way to clear his mind of everything. At the moment he was trying to forget about the reactions of his friends, and especially his girlfriend, or ex-girlfriend now, when he told them he was moving. They had all been brought up in different environments than Tyler had, so they hadn’t understood his intense desire to get away. While his friends had been in the middle-class, the Bennet family came from old money, dating back to the colonial days. His parents were obsessed with mingling with the “rich and fabulous” and always dragged him along so he could be properly socialized. He had gone to an all-boys private school, and the top Ivy League college. But he had hated all of that. He was frequently trying to disobey his parents and do whatever he could to annoy them. Which was why he was in Georgia now. After graduating from college he decided he had had enough and left. He stayed in different places along the East Coast before settling in here. He liked it because it was so far South, and such a small town. It was nice and peaceful.
After running at a break neck speed for three miles, he slowed down, walking for an extra mile to cool down, before he took off his shirt and shoes and went into the water. He cooled down quickly as it was just the end of winter and the water was still freezing. He walked up the beach away from the water and laid back on the sand, closing his eyes, playing with the dog tags around his neck, and thinking about whatever came into his mind. He could definitely get used to this life style…
