As much as she didn't want to admit it, theater was becoming more like a chore then anything else now a days. Haela had no clue what she was going to do to get her voice heard. She felt like everyone was just doing shit to do it and they really didn't care. True, it wasn't as if this was her senior project so her voice was probably going to be ignored no matter what. Maybe if she was lucky, she would at least get a decent singing part in the production, but if not she supposed that she would still have her choral groups that she could still sing in. It wouldn't be the same. She wasn't on a stage trying to tell some story or portray a character. Nobody got to hear her voice, she was just one of many in a crowd. That was the one part that Haela didn't like about the choral groups. It was always a collaborative effort. You never got to show off your stuff. At least with her theater, there was times when she could command the audience.
So to blow off some steam, Haela went to the local pub for their karaoke night. She was such a fan of the little event that the privately owned business put on. She could just belt her heart out and they wouldn't care. It would be better then hearing the drunken serenades from other patrons. The bell jingled as Haela pushed opened the old hand carved wooden door. It was so warm and cozy and Haela definitely felt like she was back in Ireland when she walked in. Not wanting to look as lonely as if she were sitting by herself at a table, Haela chose to sit at the bar. She claimed a stool for herself and crossed her long toned legs as she waited for the bartender to come and take her order. "I'd like a shot of chilled ouzo, a glass of water, a salad and vegetarian slouvaki" she said. That was the one thing that Haela loved about this little pub. It had such a diverse menu and she could have food from almost any major country that she had traveled to, and right now she was craving Greek food, well modified Greek food. She was a vegetarian and it wouldn't be very good for her vegetarian diet if she were to consume lamb. The point though was that she was getting Greek food though, even if it wasn't her grandmothers.
